Telehandler rental in Michigan
A telehandler is a rough terrain lift truck with a telescoping boom instead of a vertical mast. OSHA's description is a vehicle that can pick and place loads at various distances and lift heights in front of the machine. That reach is the reason to rent one: placing a load over an obstacle or at a distance that a mast forklift cannot get close to.

Mast forklift or telehandler?
If you only need to lift straight up and set a pallet down, a mast forklift is usually simpler. If you need to reach over a trench, onto a roof, or into the middle of a deck, a telehandler gives that flexibility. The trade-off is that what a telehandler can lift depends on how far and how high the boom is extended, which is why each machine and attachment comes with a load chart. Compare quotes using the load chart at your actual reach, not the headline capacity.
Numbers to send with your request
OSHA's rule says modifications and additions that affect capacity and safe operation must not be made without the manufacturer's prior written approval, and that nameplates and markings must stay legible. Ask us for the load chart that goes with each attachment.
- Heaviest load and its dimensions
- Height to the landing point
- Horizontal distance from where the machine can park to where the load goes
- Attachments needed, such as forks, a bucket, or a truss boom
- Ground conditions where the machine will set up
Training for a different kind of machine
An operator who has only driven a mast forklift is moving to a different type of truck. Under the federal standard that calls for refresher training, and under MIOSHA Part 21 the operator's permit must name the type of truck they are qualified to run. Plan the training before the delivery date.
