Choosing a forklift rental period in Michigan
Ask whether a quote is per day, per week, or per month, because the terms behind each can differ. Choosing the right period starts with an honest estimate of how long the job will take, and a plan for what happens if it runs over.

Match the period to the job
- A short job, like unloading a delivery or moving equipment during a renovation, may fit a daily rental
- Inventory counts, a busy season, or a construction phase may fit a weekly or monthly rental
- A gap while your own truck is repaired is worth describing as a replacement need, since timing can be open-ended
Questions to ask with every quote
- Does the rate include delivery and pickup, or are they separate?
- Is there an hour meter limit per day, week, or month?
- What happens if I need the truck longer, and how much notice do you need?
- Who handles maintenance during the rental, and how fast is service if it breaks down?
- Is fuel or a charger included?
Plan for safety work on day one
OSHA requires an examination before a truck is placed in service and at least daily after that, or after each shift when trucks run around the clock. Any defect must be reported and corrected, and a truck needing repair must be taken out of service. Agree with us on how you will report problems before the truck arrives.

Frequently asked questions
Can I extend a rental after it starts?
That depends on the agreement you sign. Ask before you sign and get the extension terms in writing.
What if the truck breaks down partway through?
Stop using it. Under the federal standard a truck that needs repair or is unsafe must come out of service until it is fixed. Ask us before you rent how fast a breakdown is handled and whether the machine can be swapped.
